     BEACHCOMBER SERIES

These Works were inspired by an Ammonite fossil together with long rambles on the beach.

The viewer can make their own journey of discovery as the painting is revealed .The positioning of the collage to retain a white space on the paper, is important in these works. The delicate watercolour wash connects the two spaces, the collage and the white space, in an acceptance or sensitivity to one another reminiscent of Japanese calligraphy.

The artist is consciously aware of both spaces to maintain the energy of the work, to form an asymmetrical balance and give areas of complexity and areas of rest; places to relax and recharge the visual powers.
