THE  FOREST OF TRANQUILITY

This rainforest series is inspired by visits to FINCH Hatton Gorge and the Eungella National Park in Central Queensland.  The brilliant flashes of magenta amongst the abundance of textures; light and shade, the peaceful atmosphere with the sounds and colourful glimpses of birds; all adding to the feeling of peace and tranquility as I walked through brilliant light and deep soft shade of the forest. Light filtering through trees and ferns, patterns against a bright cobalt sky.

Metaphorically, the forest also was a reminder of my own inner world. The light and shade reflecting those moments in life of sadness and happiness; the flashes of colour a promise of enrichment and excitement. Tall trees reaching toward the light remind me of our own struggle to reach the light and move upward in consciousness. The deep roots a reflection of buried past dark memories yet also giving us the stability to support and enrich ourselves.

There is a deep feeling of renewal from the recycling of the mulch on the forest floor and the constant regeneration springing from this sweet smelling carpet.

The appearance of Mandalas reflected everywhere in grass trees, in flowers, in grasses reminding me of the need to be centered, focused and moving towards my own enlightenment in my inner world.

I enjoyed working in a different format in an attempt to highlight the wonderfully varied nature of the forest. This also reflects the ability to change and be flexible within myself as well as with the presentation of this series.
